The Good Room Club

A Website Built for a Brand That Is Anything But Quiet!

Some projects come along and push you in ways you didn't expect. Working with Matilda on The Good Room Club was one of those projects for me, and I mean that in the very best way.

Matilda is an interior designer with a genuinely brilliant concept. Affordable, fixed-price interior design delivered straight to your inbox. No gatekeeping, no confusing process, no big intimidating price tags. Just great design made accessible for real people with real homes and real budgets. Whether you're a renter trying to make your space feel like yours, a first home buyer figuring out where to even start, or someone who just needs a second pair of eyes on a room that isn't quite working, The Good Room Club is there for you.

She is, honestly, one of those people who knows exactly who she is. And that clarity made everything about this project a joy.

The brand itself was created by the incredibly talented Evie Kemp, and it is bold, vibrant, playful and completely unapologetic about all of it. It's the kind of brand that walks into a room and owns it immediately. Full of colour, full of personality, full of the same energy that Matilda herself brings to everything she does.

And my job was to build a website that could hold all of that without losing a single drop of it.

This was the most colour I have ever worked with. Every single design decision had to be intentional. Too much colour or pattern in one area and it becomes noise. Too little and you flatten something that was never meant to be flat. The balance between personality and usability is where the real work lives, and on a project like this, that line felt very fine and very important.

What I kept coming back to throughout the build was Matilda's customer. The person landing on the site for the first time who has never worked with an interior designer before. Who might find the whole idea a little overwhelming or feel like it's not really for someone like them. The website needed to feel as warm and fun and full of life as the brand, while also making it completely clear how simple the whole process actually is. That clarity and personality had to work together, and I'm really proud of that balance.

The result is a website that feels exactly like The Good Room Club. Bold, welcoming, full of colour, and completely free of the gatekeeping that has always made design feel out of reach for so many people.

Matilda has built something genuinely special, and I am so proud that Designer Studios got to build the home for it on the web.
